Want to win a biz award?

Hi friend -

I received some exciting news last week ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Yes, I was nominated for an RBC Women of Influence award - yay! Fantastic!! But let me โ€˜pull back the woolโ€™ a bit on business awards.

If youโ€™re anything like me and youโ€™ve often sat on the sidelines wondering โ€œhow is she so lucky to get nominated for yet another award??โ€

Maybe you feel like youโ€™re not running your biz โ€œthe right wayโ€ or โ€œmaking enough moneyโ€ but if you were, youโ€™d sure AF be receiving nominations for biz awards.

Hmm.. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

Well, as one of my fav speakers, Mel Robbins, likes to say, โ€œNobodyโ€™s coming for you.โ€ Heh? What does this mean and why should you care?

I feel it is my job to tell you: in order to get a biz award, you need to get nominated. And unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that anyone is going to randomly go out of their way to nominate you for an award that will boost your businessโ€™ visibility and maybe even catapult you to a whole new level of national notoriety (aka $100k months, dream clients, waitlists for launches, etc).

They just wonโ€™t. Even if they love you. Time is in short supply for all of usโ€ฆ

In fact, let me get even more honest and confess that the way I received this nomination (and any other nomination youโ€™ll see me get over the next little bit) is by doing the following:

  • Identifying a team member with some capacity for research

  • Assigning a task to that team member in Asana, voice note or email (โ€œIโ€™d like to get some biz awardsโ€ฆ Can you research which ones I might be eligible for given that Iโ€™ve only been in business for about 16 months?โ€)

  • Team member compiled list of awards in a Google Doc

  • Team member and I discussed which awards I wanted to move forward with at our weekly check-in meeting

  • Team member nominated me for the award and completed application requirements

  • VOILA. Here we are today! Nomination email received. โœ…

Now, who knows if Iโ€™ll win. Thatโ€™s a separate thing - I'm pretty sure hundreds of biz owners are nominated each year. But, also, who cares?

Like anything I do in my business, I always put in 100% effort and then I do my best to let go of my attachment to the result.

So, the next time you find yourself feeling green with envy that one of your fellow business owners received a fancy nomination or won another award and you didnโ€™t, donโ€™t. Just donโ€™t.

Instead, use the steps above and GET YOURSELF THAT NOMINATION, friend.

If youโ€™re interested in learning more about ways to boost your businessโ€™ visibility, letโ€™s chat.

One of the goals that I looooove helping people with in my SPRINGTIME 3-SESSION INTENSIVE  ๐ŸŒท ๐ŸŒณโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฐ is  ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป raising their rates ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

And you guessed it - if youโ€™re out there getting nominations and awards for your biz, that fee proposal convo with your next potential client is going to be a heck of a lot easier.

Details:

  • 3 x 60min 1:1 sessions with me between now and April 30
