Ready to open a second location?
Here are some cool things me and my team supported clients with last month:
🤗 Taking the first step towards opening a second location
⭐️ Running different compensation scenarios for a high-profile 6-fig contract
💅🏻 Starting/managing an Airbnb and getting $7,000 in bookings in the first two weeks
As you can see, we like to live up to our reputation of being the ‘go-to problem solvers for service-based businesses in Western Canada.’
And today I want to talk about that first win a little bit: opening a second location.
In addition to one client who I am actively working with on this goal, I have had convos with 2 other biz owners recently about expansion. I love it.
But there’s def a right way and a wrong(ish) way to go about opening a second location. So let’s talk about one of your first steps, if you’re considering this…. 🤔
Well, I need you to ask yourself a few questions.. most importantly - are you ready to take on a completely different role in your biz?
No, really.
Because if I had to guess, you’re probably doing a lot of “I’m the boss”-type tasks in your business now.
📈 You set goals.
💰 You bring in new work.
😌 You let people go when they are no longer a fit for your organization.
But you’re probably also doing some of this stuff too…
🤦🏼♀️Prep or data-entry type work on client files.
❌Onboarding new clients.
🤷🏼♀️Preparing your own invoices.
Believe me - this is what everyone does - including me.
I am not perfect at asking my team to help with all of the tasks I really shouldn’t be doing. (Case in point, I’m prepping this blog post lol….)
But I’m also not looking at a massive business expansion that has the potential to take me to multiple 7-figures in revenue. Yet.
So, if you don’t want things like
** 80hr work weeks,
** client churn, and
** an under-skilled team when you open that second office,
your first step is to get really honest with yourself about ⭐ matching your words/dreams up with your actions.⭐
But how, you ask?
A Daily Time Audit.
(And if you’re a client of mine who has done this before, I invite you to join me in doing this again. I’m re-doing it too.)
1️⃣ Grab a piece of paper and a pen.
2️⃣ You’re going to make 4 columns like so:
3️⃣ Then, you’re gonna have a bunch of rows where you’re going to input your details into Columns 1 and 2. Basically, go row by row and be as detailed as possible.
For example, 8:15am Draft IG stories in Google Docs, 8:45am Post IG stories, 9:25am Email to Client X, 9:45am Team payments, etc.
Fill this chart out for 2 - 3 days. You’ll most likely have 10-20 rows for each day. I know. A lot.
4️⃣ Then, set some time aside, grab a tea and review. For each row, I need you to answer the questions in Columns 3 and 4.
For example:
‣ Could I have delegated the drafting of my IG stories in Google Docs to someone else? No. Next row.
‣ Could I have delegated the posting of my IG stories to someone else? Yes. Go to Column 4.
‣ Am I willing to delegate this task now? Actually, yes.
Go, row by row, and ask yourself these questions.
Your goal is to identify at least 2 - 3 tasks that you could delegate or outsource to someone else. You might even find some tasks that you are taking off your list and no one has to do them. That’s fine too.
If you have big dreams that include opening a second location but you want to skip the overwhelm and sleepless nights, we should talk because taking on big challenges and breaking them down into bite-sized pieces that you can put into your agenda TODAY is something my team and I love to do inside the 7-Fig CEO.
I’ll help by mentoring you 1:1 to lead your business in a way that allows you to be clear on the steps you need to take to transition away from being a worker-bee to fully embodying your bold self as the leader of a two- or three-location biz.
You’ll also get the full support of my team of CPAs and admin/systems experts because I can design the most beautiful strategy/plan in the world for you, but I can’t give you more than 24hrs in your day.
My team will help you and your team with the execution and implementation of your growth goals.
Ready to take the first steps towards expansion?
Take care and talk soon,
